We don't know anything about Frederick's early life or family.

He fought in the Burma theatre during the Second World War. This means that if Frederick was a member of the Manchester Regiment he served with the 2nd Battalion. We don't know his service number or what rank he reached.

Like many veterans Frederick seems to have wanted to put his experiences during the war behind him once he returned home. In later life kept his medals in an Oxo tin.

Frederick's medals (and the tin) were donated to the Museum of the Manchester Regiment in July 1997.
